Appointment Criteria for Cohort Three In Mpumalanga
- Schools are required to recruit EAs and GSAs from Cohort Two, which began in May 2023.
- Qualifications for consideration include:
- Youth aged 18 – 34 years.
- Possession of a valid RSA ID book.
- Residing in the location of the school.
- Good performance.
- Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET).
- Not receiving government grants or SASSA grants (NSFAS, Fundza Lushaka, SRD 350 grant, etc.).
- Not receiving any other form of stipend, wage, or salary.
- No criminal record or record of misconduct.
- Attendance of all compulsory online courses (PYEI Orientation, NEMISA, and NSSF).
- Appointed assistants will sign a 2 to 3 months contract.

Under Phase 4, job opportunities include:
- Education Assistants (EAs) positions require at least matric, preference for tertiary qualifications.

Yes, EAs and GAs contracts are set to be extended in all provinces, Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, and Western Cape. The extension was first introduced in Gauteng Province and then later expanded in other provinces. However, the problem is that the contract extensions are not the same in all provinces.
