How To Withdraw Money From PayPal In South Africa

In 2022 I got scammed multiple times trying to change my PayPal dollars from people I just found on Facebook groups. That was when I did my research on how to withdraw money from PayPal in South Africa.

How To Withdraw Money From PayPal In South Africa

So withdrawing money from PayPal in South Africa is easier than you can think. You just have to follow this 3-step guide. Even if you don’t have an FNB account, it’s okay because you can still withdraw money from PayPal whether using Capitec, Tymebank, Absa, Standard Bank, or any other bank.

Step 1: Verify Your PayPal Account

Without a verified PayPal account you can barely do anything. So first things first you need to verify your PayPal account by doing the following

  • Go to the PayPal app/website
  • Click Wallets
  • Add card
  • They will deduct $1 from your card so make sure you at least have R30
  • Verify the card with the code under the deducted amount on your bank notification

Now that you have added your card it simply means your PayPal account has been verified. But make sure that the cardholder name used to verify is the same name used to create the PayPal account.

Now you have to link your PayPal account to FNB, even if you don’t have an FNB account it’s fine you can still link it. I don’t know why but FNB is the only bank that has the option to link a PayPal account maybe it’s a partnership thing.

But the best part is that you can link a Capitec, Tymebank, Standard Bank, Abasa, or any bank through FNB and then be paid in your preferred bank.

Yes, it’s possible to withdraw money without having an FNB account but you still have to go through FNB by creating an Online profile (free) and then linking your non-FNB card to withdraw.

Step: 3 Withdraw Money From PayPal In South Africa

Once you have linked your PayPal account to FNB PayPal services it’s pretty straightforward. Here are the steps to follow in order to withdraw

  • From the FNB app/Website
  • Go to Forex>PayPal
  • Click Withdraw
  • Fill in Your Info (Address, Contact details, Bank for the money to be sent to)
  • Choose how did you get the money (I usually say Gitf/Commission form services)
  • Done (Takes 3 to 5 days)
